Your Song gelding Poetic Charmer made it back-to-back victories when he saluted in the $50,000 Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm on December 5.

The gutsy four-year-old started a tad slow from barrier 11, which gave Tommy Berry no option but to settle in the back half of the field four wide with cover.

An uninterrupted, full of momentum run allowed the pair to loom around the field and excel at the 200 metres, giving Triple Crown owners something to cheer about, pulling away for a length victory over He’s a Given.

“The wide barrier and slightly slow getaway made it a bit tricky today so Tommy opted to keep him out of trouble and bide his time,” explained co-trainer Peter Snowden.

“When you look at the amount of ground he covered, it was a really impressive win.

“He’s a very nice horse who just keeps improving with every run and can get more distance, so we look forward to seeing where he takes us.”

Poetic Charmer has won close to $120,000 from 13 career starts, for three wins, four seconds and a third, proving a model of consistency.
