It was a very succesful 2021 Inglis Classic Sale for Snowden Racing picking up 7 cracking yearlings to add to our assault for next season! In what was a very tough market we feel as if we have hit the ground running this sales season acquiring some extremely well bred colts & fillies who also boast the physical attributes we are constantly on the lookout for.

Peter, Paul & Colum spent hours going through a catalogue of over 800 horses on site at Inglis Riverside Stables. Inspections were carried out, shortlists were finalised, vettings were completed so that when bidding time came around the team knew exactly what ones they wanted. We invite our loyal clients to race them with us and we also encourage new clients to get in touch to join the Snowden Racing Team! Press Statement x Giovanna Bella Filly
Purchased for $70,000 from Vinery Stud.

Lot 5 is a beautiful filly sired by Press Statement who is a full brother to our very own two year old California Press who trialled quite impressively on the 5th of February at Randwick and will be making his debut in the coming weeks. The Snowden team have a quiet opinion of his ability so buying the full sister who is in the same mould as him was a no brainer. Not only that. she is also a full sister to Giovanna Run who is a 2YO city winner who subsequently beat mutiple Group 1 winner, Montefilia, in the process.

She is a very well balanced and great-moving filly from an impressive family who we are very familiar with. What’s even better is we got her for $70,000 which we believe was a bargain.

LOT 267
Hellbent x Reggie colt
Purchased for $190,000 from Fairhill Farm

Lot 267 is a ripping colt sired by exciting first season sire and Gr.1 winning son of I Am Invincible, Hellbent. In our opinion he is one of the best colts of the sale and interestingly the only yearling to be offered at any sale this year sired by Hellbent who is a half brother or sister to a G1 winner. His dam, Reggie has been a fantastic broodmare to date having produced Gr.1 winner Heavens Above as well as stakes filly Pindan Pearl from as little as three foals to race.

Short coupled, strong hindquarter, well developed shoulder and forearm…
He looks like a true sprinter.

LOT 368
Deep Field x Tears Of Gold filly
Purchased for $170,000 from Bell River Thoroughbreds

Lot 368 is a fast looking filly purchased for $170,000 from Bell River Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Classic Sale. She is sired by an outstanding young sire in Deep Field out of the Medaglia D’Oro mare, Tears Of Gold, who she herself is a full sister to multiple Group winner Souper Escape in USA and out of a G1 winner in Cry And Catch Me. This filly was put on our shortlist the moment she stepped out of the box. We did a bit of research before we bought her on her Dam Tears Of Gold. She was believed to be Group class but unfortunately never got to the track due to injury and this filly is her first foal.

Interestingly Paul Fudge’s Waratah Thoroughbreds paid $US620,000 for Tears Of Gold when she was an unraced filly at Keeneland before importing her into Australia. That same day, only an hour later, Tears Of Gold’s dam Cry and Catch Me sold for $US3.5 million to Live Oak Plantation in foal to Bernardini. For these reasons I think we have bought this filly very well at $170,000. She’s got the walk, the looks and everything we look for when purchasing progeny of Deep Field.

We’ve had a a lot of luck with the progeny of Deep Field including the likes of Cosmic Force (G3 Pago Pago & G2 Roman Consul winner) who was interestingly purchased from the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale.

LOT 618
Pariah x Forward Thinking filly
Purchased for $90,000 from Arrowfield Stud

Lot 618 is a beautiful Pariah filly out of the Charge Forward mare, Forward Thinking. Forward Thinking is a sister to Colorado Claire who is the dam of Gunnison who we trained to win the G2 Todman Stakes back in 2017. Having also trained Pariah here at Snowden Racing to win the G3 Canonbury Stakes and G3 San Domenico Stakes, we are very familiar with the family and this filly brought back some very fond memories of those two very talented horses. (and not so fond memories of Pariah losing out by a nostril in the G1 Blue Diamond!)

That being said this filly carries a lot of traits that we seen in both Pariah and Gunnison at a young age so fingers crossed she will follow suit.
