Q: WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM AND WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
I’m orginally from Hamilton in NZ. I was Born & Bred into racing, I always had ponies when I was kid, went to pony club & shows etc.
HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTERESTED IN HORSES?
My Grandfather Trevor Knowles trained in NZ, trained a lot of top class horses & trained the 1960 Melbourne Cup winner Hi Jinx. My Mother also trained successfully in NZ too.
Q: WHAT GIVES YOU THE MOST SATISFACTION WORKING WITH HORSES AND BEING IN RACING?
Most satisfaction would be looking after & riding a horse from a yearling til they get to the races, & the thrill of them winning a race makes the long hours we do worth it, it’s a great buzz.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HORSE?
Favourite horse in our our Melbourne stable is a close call between Castile & Industrial…In Sydney my all time fave is Stoical.
Q: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE IN RACING?
I would like to be either an Foreman/Assistant Trainer, & later on a Racing Manager.
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF WORKING WITH SNOWDEN RACING?
Best part of working for Snowden racing, is always having nice horses to work with.
Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF RACING?
Some of the interests I have apart from racing are showjumping and polo.
Q: WHAT’S ONE THING YOU COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
One thing I couldn’t live without is definitely Alcohol, love a Gordon’s pink Gin.
Q: WHAT WOULD YOU DO (FOR A CAREER) IF YOU WEREN’T DOING THIS?
What I would do for a job if I wasn’t doing this, probably a Vet if I had the brains
Q: WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION?
My biggest inspiration is Mike Moroney, he taught me so much during the years I was Foreman for him, he taught me everything I know (Apart from my Mother of course).
Q: HOW DO YOU CELEBRATE A SUCCESSFUL DAY?
I celebrate a successful day by having a few drinks with my friends.
