The Suspense Continues

Feb 04, 2016

The son of bonny mare Intrigues (Night Shift x Shaybisc) continues to impress, as Suspense made it win three wins from just as many starts when he galloped away in the last with the $40,000 TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap (1250m) at Canterbury on February 3.

Guided by champion jockey James McDonald who capped off the day with a treble, the half-brother to Group 1 star Mental took a perfect sit behind the two tear away leaders, before making a move in the final 100 metres to post a 1 length win ahead of Hot Vinnie.

Owned by members of the Snowden family and close friends, Peter Snowden purchased the Victorian-bred Keano gelding due to the impressive family line on the dam side.

“It’s no secret that I am a fan of the mare who provided me with Mental to train who was a talented racehorse,” explained Snowden.

“James put him a winning position a long way from home and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

“He was a little backwards as a juvenile but always showed promise, so we decided to take our time with him and it’s paying off now.

“He’s still got a long way to go but it’s a bit of fun for the family and our close friends and I’ll continue to enjoy a home-cooked meal by my wife Lyn, who owns a share,” joked Snowden.

Suspense is also proving adaptable on the ground, with his first win on a heavy 10, while his second and third victory taken on a soft three and four.
