Yuma Desert Storms To Victory

May 13, 2016

High-flying filly Yuma Desert showed great speed to easily account for the $40,000 TAB.com.au Maiden Plate (1100m) on Wednesday 11 May at Canterbury.

From barrier 1, Kerrin McEvoy sent the powerful three-year-old daughter of Not A Single Doubt out of Sandy Desert straight to lead and never looked back for a resounding all the way 4.3 length victory ahead of Tough As Teak.

“Boy she really exploded at the 200 metres.

“She’s come off two strong trials and couldn’t have been any more impressive,” said co-trainer Peter Snowden.

“Kerrin judged the pace perfectly and we now look forward to having some fun with this filly and seeing what she’s really made of.”

Yuma Desert has had six career starts for a win, three seconds and thirds for almost $55,000 in prizemoney thus far for connections.
