Hand From Above

Jun 27, 2016

Three-year-old gelding Hand From Above rose to the occasion under a big weight to take out the $40,000 McGrath Estate Agents BenchMark 67 Handicap (1600m) at Warwick Farm on June 15.

Carrying a hefty 61.5 kilograms on a track rated a soft 6, jockey Blake Shinn took decisive action and encouraged Hand From Above across from the wide alley (barrier 9) where he then perched behind race leader Gold Talk.

The positive ride put the duo in a controlling position to dominate the race which saw them lead the field at the top of the home straight before peeling away at the 150 metre mark for a comfortable one length win over I Told Georgie.

“He’s a nice horse on the way up who should be able to get more distance as we progress,” said co-trainer Paul Snowden.

“He’s proven on both heavy and good ground so it’s nice to have a versatile conditions to work.

By More Than Ready out of Miss O’Brien, Hand From Above has had nine starts for three wins, two seconds and a third for a tick under $90,000 in prizemoney for Brad Spicer Thoroughbreds.
