Spending Goes Out With A Bang

Jan 01, 2017

Spending To Win finished 2016 with a bang when he scored an impressive maiden win in the $100,000 Schweppes BenchMark 72 Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury on December 31.

Blake Shinn parked the handsome grey up on the pace after jumping well from barrier 6. Rated perfectly, the pair cruised home easily to pass race-favourite Super Too, and eventually beat Miss Amajardan by 1.8 lengths.

The three-year-old Snitzel colt out of Madame Trop has evidently made the most out of a successful wind operation and now looks to have a bright future.

“He’s a lovely colt who’s just taken a little time to come to hand because he’s had a breathing issue, but that looks to be fixed now and we couldn’t be happier with today’s result.

“It was a terrific win. There's a future for him.”

Owned by long-time Snowden Racing clients Penny and Trevor Stuckey, and Susan Yan, Spending To Win has won over $85,000 from just four career starts which includes one win, a second and two third placings.
