Roaring Dives To Deadheat

Apr 23, 2017

Roaring To Win and Brenton Avdulla pulled out all stops to come from last to dead heat on the line in the $100,000 TAB.COM.AU BenchMark 79 Handicap (1400m) at Randwick on April 22.

In a perfectly-timed ride, Roaring To Win settled stone cold last and never looked in contention, still trailing the field on the home turn, however the son of Northern Meteor somehow found the will and reserve to storm home down the outside to nab the Victorian visitor Moss’n’Dale right on the post.

Co-trainer Peter Snowden was in disbelief but more than happy to share the spoils which brought home a city winning double for the team with Gibraltar Girl saluting earlier.

"He ran terrific, the horse and Brenton rode him a treat. He really struggled the whole way in the heavy ground with a big weight on his back (60.5kg).

"It was a very brave effort to get as close as he did, I just can’t believe it…I don't mind sharing it with Pete [Gelagotis], he's a good bloke."

Bred and owned by long time Snowden Racing supporters Trevor Stuckey, his partner Penny Yan and her sister Susan Yan – owners of the grey Champion Racing To Win and popular stallion Shooting To Win, Roaring To Win has secured four victories, eight minor placings from twenty career starts for almost $200,000 in prizemoney.
