Friday night racing at Moonee Valley provided Team Snowden with a 100th win for the season as Maximus stormed home for victory the $50,000 Absolute MBA Office National BenchMark Handicap (1200m).

In a perfectly executed ride by James Winks, the four-year-old son of Artie Schiller settled three from the back of the field before edging his way around rivals before letting down with an explosive turn of foot coming off home turn to get the better of Haski in a driving finish.

Co-trainer Peter Snowden was full of praise for the in-form Winks, giving him a “10 out of 10” assessment for the ride.

“It was a deserved win and great ride too from an awkward gate (8) - 10 out of 10. You’ve got to execute well when you get a draw like that.

“It’s the first winner in town for the owners and it’s a great result.

“He’s a colt, a bull, so you’ve got to mix things up a bit. The other day I thought he floated a bit when he got near the leaders but he was very genuine tonight.

Snowden added, “100 wins for the season is very pleasing and satisfying; hopefully we can make it 200!”

Owned by Mr T J Torcasio, Mr M R J Torcasio, Mr S J G Peak, Mr W R Hastings, the lightly- raced Maximus has hadeight career starts, for three wins and four minor placings.
