As part of Moonee Valley Racing Club’s Cheering for Charity initiative, tonight The Valley will be donating to mental health and wellbeing foundation, Behind The Barriers, which will take place in Race 4 (7pm) on the Snowden-trained Snitzel filly Steamboat Sally.
The initiative includes a Ladbrokes bet of $250 placed on a chosen runner, Steamboat Sally (to be ridden by Mark Zahra), by The Valley with any winning proceeds going to Behind The Barriers if the horse salutes and an additional $500 donated by the Club.
Founded by Jason Petch, Behind The Barriers is a mental health and wellbeing foundation, providing free, immediate and confidential support to racing industry participants and immediate family members suffering mental health issues due to the rigorous demands of the industry.
It offers a free 24/7 telephone support service (1300 438 435) directly to a senior psychologist with immediate referral to a clinical psychologist where required.
For more information, please visit behindthebarriers.org.au or call 1300 438 435.
